Kaapelitehdas, Valssaamo, Tallberginkatu 1, B, Helsinki
Welcome to Opening at August, 20 at 6PM!
D I L E M M A is the first group exhibition of C.Cornix. All members of the group bring out answers or at least attempts to answer their own artistic dilemma with their paintings and drawings.
The ancient Greek work ‘dilemma’ means a double assumption. Originally, ‘dilemma’ meant a difficulty of choice in a situation where there are two equally bad options. Later on, the meaning has become wider, and the word now means a difficult problem or a complication in general.
The works of art in the DILEMMA exhibition are private visual contemplations of the span of life and humanity, simplicity and reduction, the moment and presence, the observation and interpretation. Hannele Färm paints her past and future life. Marja-Leena Koivisto depicts her observations in the golden space of time and place. Tuomo Railo strives for simplicity in his abstract expression. Kati von Zansen draws human interpretations of trees.
Although the themes sound festive, the whole and the parts of it can be approached purely as an aesthetic experience.
What brings the artists of C.Cornix together is that they all studied in the Open Art School where they were taught by painters Matti Kurki and Nagashila.
Thursday August, 22nd, during the Helsinki Festival's The Night of The Arts Dance Theatre Glims & Gloms will perform 7 and 9pm.
Six dancers from The Dance Theatre Glims & Gloms will perform an excerpt from Tuomo Railo's choreography Quartet of The End of Time, following an excerpt from Simo Heiskanen's cabare performance Nom de Plume. Heiskanen will sing songs by Kurt Weill and Jaques Brel. www.glimsgloms.com
